In the early 70s Joan Salvó Roig and Josepa Domingo Mulet Xaloquell decide to build on the property owned by the family of Joseph. After working in Calafell for over 10 years, John sees the explosion of tourism as a future business.
In those years in Sant Salvador there were still many vines of “Garnatxa” and “Muscat” varieties but had already begun to build a building beyond the first line of the sea.
On 24 May 1972 the restaurant Xaloquell opened, which coincides with the wedding of Joan and Josepa.
The first years were hard but also very productive, they began to make the first weddings, and all kinds of events.
Over the years the business grew and begin the first renovations and extensions.
In 1977 construction of the dining hall Pau Casals, a small winery dedicated to our more universal person and probably had often walked by the building where the restaurant is now.
The 1990 reform of the entire dining room with glass covering the terrace to make the room bigger.
In 1998 the garden where he had built the Nordic Room with wood imported from Norway. A large capacity single room used for weddings and events of all kinds.
The 2008 refurbishment of the garden to accommodate weddings and snacks from 2010 also dinners during the summer season.
Since 2002 Josepa Domingo and Montserrat Salvó Domigo take the helm of the restaurant, and aided throughout by a professional team, without them this project would not be possible restaurant.
